1. What is BAHTTEXT Function in Excel?
BAHTTEXT function is one of Excel’s in-built functions which is used to convert a number into text. The BAHTTEXT function converts a number into a THAI text while applying the text “Baht” at the end. Baht is the official currency of Thailand, and its symbol is ฿.
2. Syntax, Purpose, and Arguments of BAHTTEXT Function
Syntax: =BAHTTEXT(number)
Purpose: The purpose of this function is to convert a number into a Thai text.
Arguments: There is only one argument in BAHTTEXT function,
number- The number that needs to be converted into text.
3. How to use BAHTTEXT Function in Excel?
There are three ways you can access the BAHTTEXT function and use it. Stay with this lesson till the end to learn all three ways to use the Excel BAHTTEXT function.
3.1 From Formulas Tab
Step 1: Select a cell where you want to apply the formula and go to Formulas>>Text>>BAHTTEXT.
Step 2: This will open Function Arguments dialogue box. Type the number or digit that you want to convert into a Thai text inside Number box and press OK.
Step 3: The number will be converted into a Thai text with a suffix Baht with it.
3.2 Using a Shortcut
Step 1: Select a cell, go to the Formulas tab, and click on the FX (Insert Function) option. Or press SHIFT+F3 keys to open the Insert Function dialogue box.
Step 2: Select Text inside Select a Category box, click on BAHTTEXT and press OK.
Step 3: Insert a number inside Number box and press OK.
Step 4: The number has been converted into Thai text.
3.3 By Inserting Manually
Step 1: Select a cell and start typing =BA, you will see the BAHTTEXT function in the drop-down list. Double click on it and type a number inside the formula.
Step 2: Press Enter key to get the result.
4. BAHTTEXT Function Utilization- Convert a Number to Thai Text and Add a “Baht” Suffix.
Here are some numerical values we need to convert into a Thai text. We will be using the BAHTTEXT function to convert these numbers into Thai texts with a suffix Baht attached to them. English translation for each of these Thai texts will also be provided in column C.
Step 1: Select cell B2 and insert the BAHTTEXT formula in this cell.
Step 2: Press Enter key to convert this number into a Thai text. Then drag the fill-handle down to B6 to convert all of these numbers of column A into Thai texts by applying the formula to all the other cells of column B.
Step 3: The numbers are converted into Thai texts with Baht as suffix. English translations have been provided for each of these converted Thai texts in column C.
5. Things to Remember About BAHTTEXT Function.
- The BAHTTEXT function will return #VALUE error if the input is not a numerical value.
- A blank cell will be returned as a zero as you can see in A5 the cell is blank, so the formula has returned a Zero Baht in B5.
