Inserting Delta from Excel Symbols
Step 1: Click the cell where you want to insert the delta symbol, say cell B2. From the Insert menu select Symbols >> Symbols
Step 2: From the Subset drop-down select Greek and Coptic
Select Delta symbol >> Insert >> Close, the symbol will be inserted in cell B2.
Using Delta-like symbol
You may choose a Delta-like symbol which is a filled triangle from the Symbols. For presenting your data you may use it.
Select Font: Arial and then Subset as Geometric Shapes
Then select the upside triangle symbol >> Insert >> Close.
Use of Shortcut Key to Insert Delta Symbol
Select the cell (say cell B2) where you want to insert the delta symbol. Hold the ALT key and press the number 30 from the number keypad on the keyboard.

Only keyboards with a 10-key numeric keypad will function with this keyboard shortcut. If your computer doesn’t have a numeric keypad, you must first turn on the Num lock before using this keyboard shortcut.
By Changing the Font to a Symbol
Step 1: Write D in the targeted cell say in cell B2
Step 2: Then from the Home menu select font as ‘Symbol’. The character D will be converted into a delta symbol.
Insert Delta by CHAR Formula
Excel’s Char function allows us to enter special characters by passing them integers. To insert Delta by Char formula, follow the steps below.
Step 1: Select any cell you want to insert the Delta symbol in and then write the number 114 in the formula and click Enter to get the character “r” or 112 in the formula and click Enter to get the character “p”.

=CHAR(112)
Step 2: Select the cell and change the font type to Wingdings 3. Depending on the value you use in the formula, the center of the delta symbol will either be hollow or filled. Using 114 will result in a hollow-centered symbol, whereas using 112 will result in a delta with fill.
Custom Number formatting with Delta Symbol
Step 1: Select a cell you want to insert the Delta symbol right-click on your mouse and select Format Cells or use the Ctrl+1 command to open Format Cells option.
Step 2: Click on Custom, under the Number tab, and type or paste General▲ in the box under Type and click Ok. Now whenever, you insert a number in the selected cell you’ll see a delta sign behind the digits.
If you want to insert the delta symbol in multiple cells containing positive and negative data and you want to incorporate upward symbols for positive and downward symbols for negative data then type or paste General▲; -General▼ and click Ok.
If you want to use green color for positive data and red for negative data, type or paste [Green]▲#,###;[Red]▼ -#,### and click Ok.
Insert Delta by using Excel Autocorrect Feature
Step 1: First you need to copy a delta symbol (▲) and then click on File>>Options to open Excel Option Dialogue.
Step 2: Select Proofing and then AutoCorrect Options.
Step 3: Write the desired word you want to use as the delta symbol in the Replace box and paste ▲ it into the text area marked under With. Click Add >> Ok.
Step 4: Now type the word into your desired cell, press Enter and the word will automatically change to ▲.
Using Copy-paste
You can simply copy the Delta symbol from your previous uses or from online by using Ctrl+C command and paste it in your desired cell by Ctrl+V command.
